In March 2005, Federal Realty Investment Trust became the principal owner and developer at Assembly Square in Somerville, Massachusets. Since then, we have worked closely with Somerville’s elected officials and the community to realize our shared vision for this unique riverfront development. The new Assembly Square will be a modern-day urban village. More than just a prime shopping destination, it will be a gathering place for friends and family, where New Englanders can live, eat, work and play in a unique pedestrian, eco-friendly environment with a new MBTA Orange Line station. Indeed, as stated by Mayor Joseph Curtatone, “The time is now for Assembly Square.”
